Can your period affect your hips?

It’s unlikely that your menstrual cycle directly affects the size or shape of your hips. However, hormonal changes that occur during your menstrual cycle can affect your body in various ways, including water retention and bloating.

During the menstrual cycle, the hormone progesterone increases, which can cause the body to retain water and lead to bloating. This may give the appearance of wider hips or a fuller figure, but it’s typically a temporary effect that subsides once the menstrual cycle is over.

If you experience discomfort or pain in your hips during your menstrual cycle, it may be related to cramping or other menstrual symptoms. However, any persistent or severe pain should be evaluated by a healthcare provider to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
