Duo is a video calling app developed by Google that allows users to make video calls with other Duo users over the internet. Duo is available for both Android and iOS devices and can also be used on computers via the Duo web app. One of the questions that many users may have about Duo is whether the app records video calls or not. In this article, we will explore the answer to this question in detail.
Firstly, it is important to note that Google has designed Duo with user privacy in mind. The company has made it clear that it does not collect any user data from Duo calls, and that includes audio and video content. Google has also stated that Duo calls are end-to-end encrypted, meaning that the content of the calls is only visible to the users involved in the call.
Given Google’s commitment to privacy, it is highly unlikely that Duo records video calls. If the app did record video calls, it would be a serious violation of user privacy, and it could lead to legal and ethical issues for Google.
However, it is important to note that Duo does have some features that allow users to capture and save video calls. For instance, users can take screenshots during a video call, and they can also record the audio of the call using an external screen recording app. It is worth noting that while users may be able to capture video calls using these methods, they will be doing so against Google’s terms of service.
Google has made it clear that it does not allow users to record Duo calls, and it reserves the right to take action against users who violate this policy. This includes terminating their Duo account and taking legal action if necessary.
In conclusion, it is highly unlikely that Duo records video calls. Google has designed the app with user privacy in mind, and it has made it clear that it does not collect any user data from Duo calls. While users may be able to capture and save video calls using external apps, they will be doing so against Google’s terms of service, and they may face consequences if they are caught doing so.
