Izzie Stevens is a beloved character from the medical drama series “Grey’s Anatomy,” which first aired in 2005. Played by Katherine Heigl, Izzie was a central character in the show’s first six seasons before her departure in season 6. Fans have since speculated about the possibility of her return to the show, particularly in the latest season 16.
However, as of the current season 16, there has been no confirmed appearance of Izzie Stevens. The character was last seen in the show in season 6, when she was fired from Seattle Grace Hospital after she had started her own medical practice. Since then, the show has continued with new storylines and characters.
There have been a few hints and references to Izzie throughout the show’s later seasons. In season 14, it was revealed that Izzie had used the embryos she and her then-husband, Alex Karev, had frozen, to have their children. This revelation sparked speculation among fans that Izzie might return to the show to reunite with Alex, who remained a central character until season 16.
However, the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, has stated that there are no plans to bring Izzie back to the show. In an interview with TVLine, Rhimes stated that Izzie’s story had been resolved, and there was no compelling reason to bring her back. She also noted that the character’s storyline had ended with a positive note, which made it challenging to write a compelling return storyline.
It is worth noting that “Grey’s Anatomy” has had numerous characters leave and return to the show over the years, including Sandra Oh’s character, Cristina Yang, who left the show in season 10 but made a brief appearance in season 14. Therefore, it is still possible that Izzie could return in future seasons.
In conclusion, as of the current season 16, there has been no confirmed appearance of Izzie Stevens in “Grey’s Anatomy.” While there have been hints and references to the character throughout later seasons, the show’s creator has stated that there are no plans to bring Izzie back to the show. However, given the show’s history of bringing back characters, it is still possible that Izzie could make a return in future seasons.
