“Schitt’s Creek” is a popular Canadian television sitcom that premiered on CBC Television in 2015 and ran for six seasons until 2020. The show follows the lives of the wealthy Rose family, who lose their fortune and are forced to move to the small, rundown town of Schitt’s Creek. While the show takes place in a fictional town, it is not explicitly stated which state it is supposed to be in.
There are several clues that suggest where Schitt’s Creek might be located, although none of them definitively place it in a particular state. For example, in one episode, a character mentions that the nearest Target store is two hours away, which could suggest that the town is located in a rural area. However, this is not necessarily an indication of a specific state, as there are many rural areas throughout North America.
Another clue comes from the show’s creator, Eugene Levy, who has stated in interviews that the town is based on several real-life small towns in Ontario, Canada, where he grew up. The show is filmed in Goodwood, Ontario, and many of the exterior shots of the town were filmed in various small towns throughout southern Ontario. However, despite the Canadian setting and production, the show has a distinctly American feel to it, with many of the characters speaking with American accents and using American expressions.
The lack of a clear indication of Schitt’s Creek’s location may have been intentional, as the show is primarily focused on the interpersonal relationships and character development of the Rose family and the residents of Schitt’s Creek. The town is portrayed as a tight-knit community with its own quirks and traditions, and the characters’ interactions with each other and the town’s residents are the driving force of the show.
Ultimately, while the location of Schitt’s Creek may not be explicitly stated, it is clear that the town is meant to represent a small, close-knit community that is not too far from larger urban centers. The show’s focus on character development and relationships rather than setting or location is part of what has made it so popular with audiences around the world.
