The SCP Foundation is a fictional organization that exists within a collaborative writing community focused on creating and sharing creative works based on anomalous entities, objects, and phenomena. SCP has become widely recognized and popular through its various creative works, including short stories, video games, and internet memes.
The SCP Foundation is tasked with identifying, securing, and containing anomalous objects and entities that pose a threat to humanity or have the potential to disrupt the natural order of the world. These objects and entities are referred to as SCPs (Secure Containment Procedures). SCP Foundation personnel are tasked with researching, documenting, and containing these anomalies, as well as protecting humanity from them.
The SCP Foundation operates in secrecy, with all information about its existence and activities kept hidden from the public. The organization has a strict hierarchy and strict protocols for dealing with SCPs, including containment procedures and security measures. The SCP Foundation is divided into three main branches: the Containment, Research, and Security departments. Each department has its own responsibilities and roles within the organization.
The Containment department is responsible for identifying, containing, and safeguarding SCPs. The department has a system of security clearance levels, with personnel assigned to different levels based on their experience, skills, and knowledge. The department uses a variety of methods to contain SCPs, including specialized containment chambers, anomalous materials, and reality-bending technologies.
The Research department is responsible for studying SCPs and developing new methods of containment and understanding of these anomalous entities. The department is divided into different research groups, each specializing in a particular field, such as physics, biology, or memetics.
The Security department is responsible for protecting the SCP Foundation and its personnel from threats, both internal and external. The department uses a variety of security measures, including armed guards, surveillance systems, and access control protocols.
SCP Foundation personnel are typically recruited from a variety of backgrounds, including law enforcement, military, scientific research, and engineering. Personnel are required to sign non-disclosure agreements and to undergo rigorous security clearance checks.
SCP Foundation anomalies come in many different forms, from physical objects to abstract concepts. Examples of SCPs include SCP-173, a statue that can move and attack when unobserved, SCP-682, a nearly indestructible reptilian creature with a strong hatred for humanity, and SCP-3008, an infinite IKEA store that traps people inside. Each SCP has its own unique properties and containment procedures, and many SCPs have multiple “incidents” or “addenda” that expand on their backstory and containment procedures.
The SCP Foundation community is known for its creativity, collaborative spirit, and attention to detail, and has become a popular destination for fans of horror, science fiction, and fantasy. The SCP Foundation has inspired a wide range of creative works, including short stories, video games, podcasts, and internet memes. Many of these works use SCPs as the basis for their narratives, exploring the darker side of human nature and the unknown.
