The Eternals are a fictional race of cosmic beings in the Marvel Comics universe. They are immortal and possess a range of superhuman abilities, including super strength, speed, and agility, as well as the ability to manipulate energy and matter. In the comics, the Eternals have had many members over the years, and their status has fluctuated over time. In this response, I will provide an overview of the current status of the Eternals in the Marvel Comics universe and which members are still alive.
Firstly, it is important to note that the current status of the Eternals in the Marvel Comics universe is somewhat in flux, as their most recent comic book series, “Eternals” by Kieron Gillen and Esad Ribić, is still ongoing. As of the latest issue (Issue #9, released in March 2022), several of the Eternals are still alive, while others have been killed or are presumed dead.
One of the main characters in the current “Eternals” series is Ikaris, a powerful Eternal who has the ability to manipulate cosmic energy. Ikaris is still alive as of Issue #9, although he has been through a great deal of turmoil in recent issues, including being imprisoned by the Deviants (a rival race of beings in the Marvel Comics universe) and being forced to confront some of his own dark secrets and past actions.
Another prominent Eternal in the current series is Sprite, a mischievous Eternal who has the ability to manipulate reality and create illusions. Sprite is also still alive as of Issue #9, although he too has been through a lot of trauma in recent issues, including being captured and tortured by the Deviants.
Other Eternals who are currently alive in the comics include Thena, a fierce warrior with the ability to control cosmic energy; Sersi, a playful Eternal who has the ability to manipulate matter; Makkari, a speedster who can run faster than the speed of sound; and Druig, a powerful Eternal with the ability to manipulate minds.
However, not all of the Eternals have survived the events of the “Eternals” series. In particular, a number of the Eternals were killed in the opening issues of the series when the Deviants launched a surprise attack on their city, killing many of the Eternals and destroying their home. Among the Eternals who were killed in this attack were Gilgamesh, a powerful Eternal with superhuman strength and durability; Kingo, an Eternal who has the ability to project energy blasts from his hands; and Ajak, an Eternal who serves as a kind of spiritual leader to the others.
There are also a number of Eternals whose fates are currently unknown. For example, Phastos, an Eternal with the ability to invent and create advanced technology, has not been seen since the opening issues of the series and it is unclear whether he survived the Deviant attack. Similarly, Zuras, the leader of the Eternals and one of the oldest and most powerful members of their race, has not been seen in several issues and it is unclear whether he is still alive.
In conclusion, the current status of the Eternals in the Marvel Comics universe is somewhat fluid, as their most recent comic book series is still ongoing. However, as of the latest issue, several of the Eternals are still alive, including Ikaris, Sprite, Thena, Sersi, Makkari, and Druig. However, a number of other Eternals have been killed or are presumed dead, while the fates of others remain unknown.
