Which ice age had the human baby?

The term “ice age” refers to a geological period in history when the Earth’s climate was significantly colder than it is today. During this time, glaciers and ice sheets expanded and contracted cyclically, resulting in fluctuations in temperature and atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. This phenomenon is believed to have been caused by various factors, such as changes in the Earth’s orbit, ocean currents, and volcanic activity.

The most recent ice age, known as the Pleistocene epoch, lasted from about 2.6 million years ago to 11,700 years ago. It was characterized by periods of glaciation, during which large areas of the Earth’s surface were covered in ice, and interglacial warming, when the ice sheets receded.

It was during this ice age that modern humans, Homo sapiens, first appeared on Earth, likely between 300,000 and 200,000 years ago in Africa. Over time, our species evolved and developed important skills, such as language and sophisticated tool-making abilities, allowing us to adapt and survive in various environments.

One of the most significant events in human evolution during the Pleistocene epoch was the emergence of anatomically modern humans, or AMHs. These early humans had larger brains, smaller teeth, and more advanced tools and weapons than their predecessors, indicating their capability for complex behavior and adaptation.

Around 100,000 years ago, some AMHs migrated out of Africa and into the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. These early humans likely survived in cold and harsh environments thanks to their superior tool-making abilities and hunting skills. Notably, around 15,000 years ago, a group of humans migrated from Asia to the Americas.

Despite the challenges posed by the Pleistocene climate, early humans thrived and adapted to various environments around the world. Their ability to innovate and develop new technologies was a key factor in their success. Today, we continue to benefit from the remarkable resilience and ingenuity of our ancestors, who laid the foundation for our species’ dominance on Earth.
