Aurelius Dumbledore is a character introduced in the movie “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” According to the film’s plot, Aurelius is revealed to be the secret younger brother of Albus Dumbledore, one of the main characters in the Harry Potter series. This revelation came as a surprise to fans of the franchise, as Aurelius was not mentioned in any of the previous books or movies.
In the movie, it is revealed that Aurelius was born to Kendra Dumbledore, the mother of Albus, Aberforth, and Ariana Dumbledore. Kendra died when Aurelius was an infant, and he was believed to have died as well. However, it is later revealed that Aurelius was secretly adopted by the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, who used him as part of his plan to take over the wizarding world.
The relationship between Aurelius and Albus is not explored in great detail in the movie, but it is implied that Albus was not aware of Aurelius’s existence until later in life. It is suggested that Albus and his brother Aberforth were not particularly close, and that Albus may have been somewhat distant from his family after the death of his mother and the subsequent fallout surrounding his sister Ariana’s mysterious death.
It is unclear how Albus feels about Aurelius once he learns of his existence. However, it is implied that Albus may feel guilty for not being there for his younger brother and for not realizing that he was still alive. Albus is known to have a complex and somewhat tortured relationship with his past, particularly with regards to his past actions and failures. It is possible that the revelation of Aurelius’s existence and his connection to Grindelwald may have further complicated Albus’s already complicated emotional state.
It is also worth noting that the movie’s portrayal of Aurelius’s relationship to Albus has been the subject of some controversy and debate among fans. Some have criticized the revelation of Aurelius’s existence as a retcon, or a retroactive change to the continuity of the Harry Potter series. Others have pointed out that the relationship between Aurelius and Albus is not explored in great detail in the movie, and that there are many unanswered questions surrounding the character.
Ultimately, the character of Aurelius Dumbledore remains a somewhat mysterious figure in the Harry Potter universe. While his relationship to Albus may be an important plot point in the “Fantastic Beasts” movies, it is still unclear how significant his character will be in the larger context of the Harry Potter franchise. It remains to be seen whether future movies or books will shed more light on Aurelius’s character and his relationship to his older brother Albus.
